A delicious link.

CHECK OUT JANISE'S ON THE CAJUN
BOUDIN TRAIL TOO.
|
Ambiance:
Yabadabadoo!!! This is a great place. A fine independent grocer
with an out-of-this-world cinnamon roll, hot and gooey, ready to be
eaten before or after your link. And, you know this place is for
"real" people when they're selling hot, stuffed, crabs at 8:30 on a
Saturday morning. It's also a hang-out for local teachers at
lunchtime and for those catching after school snacks.
Location: 147 Oak Tree Park Dr., Sunset, LA Contact:

THE BOUDIN
Cost:
$3.19 lb. Presentation:
At the back of the store
in the hot/deli section you'll have it placed in nice piece of
butcher paper. Casing:
A snap and a tizzle will get it done.
Texture:
Plenty of meat and plenty of full
grain rice. This delightful link also has plenty of green onion,
parsley, and black pepper. There is a slight pastiness to the
innards, but it's all good.
Rice/Meat Ratio:
More meat than rice.
Spices:
Hot. Not subtle hot, but Hot Hot.
We like it that way.
Overall Flavor:
Scrumptious. Absolutely scrumptious!!!!
Comments:
Word on the street is that this is the most "hygienic" boudin in
Acadiana. What exactly that means, or if it is even remotely true
we cannot attest to, but Janice's has some buzz going and they
deserve it. How good are the cinnamon rolls? Well, consider this,
according to the Lafayette Daily Advertiser (May, 12, 2007) when
outgoing Sunset Mayor Danny Louviere leaves office he will have run
up quite a tab charged to the town including "More than $2,100 spent
at Janice's Supermarket for plate lunches, deli items, pork steaks,
desserts, breakfast items and drinks from June 2005 to July 2006.
That total included more than $50 on honey buns, which were
purchased individually throughout the year." I think those "honey
buns", are what I'm calling a "cinnamon roll."
